Top 10 DJ gifts reviewed and rated. Find the perfect gift for your disc jockey no matter how much you want to spend.
10. Stanton DJ Pro Headphones. When it comes to DJ headphones, you don’t really want the most expensive, just because of the abuse they take on the job. You also don’t want the cheapest, because they sound awful. These Stantons fill the bill with extreme high quality audio without being too expensive. They’re rugged, so a working DJ should get several years out of them. Stanton DJ Pro 2000S Headphones. $89.95
9. Gator Speaker Stand Bag. I’ve used this bag for several years now and it looks brand new. It’s suprisingly great for the money and extremely heavy-duty. If your DJ is tossing his speaker and light stands unprotected in car trunks and inside trailers, help clean up the act and give the gift of protection. Around $25.00.
8. Electro Voice wireless microphone. This is a little on the spendy side, but you get what you pay for… and then some. This mic sounds incredible and has more range than your DJ will ever need. It has several channels to use, and it automatically finds the best one to use for the clearest reception. The mic itself is extremely rugged, which is important when doing events like weddings, where the wedding party takes ownership of it during speeches and toasts. I can give you plenty of horror stories of bad mic experiences. None of the stories include this mic. HIGHLY recommended. $499 at Mucisians Friend.
7. Rolls Cable Detective. This little device checks every kind of cable you can think of. When running a mobile DJ operation, one bad cable can spoil the whole bunch. I use DMX lighting, and it consists of 9 seperate cables. If one goes bad, the whole group is bad. Can you imagine substituting a cord, one by one, to try to find the bad one? Then there are mic cords, and speaker cords. The list goes on and on. Cords are usually the reason when something goes wrong. This little device should be in every DJs gear bag. Rolls equipment is always top notch. This is one DJ gift idea that is worth every penny. In stock for $46.80.
6. Furman Power Strip/Surge Protector. This is the most inexpensive Furman power protection item on the market. It is great for protecting expensive gear against dangerous power spikes that can happen often in clubs, bars and other public places. It’s similar to the Furman M8x2 Power Conditioner , but for someone who doesn’t have their equipment set up in a rack. Furman is the leader in power protection and filtering. This is also a great gift idea for someone with a home stereo/video/gaming setup. Furman SS6B Surge Block Power Cable. $29.95.
5. Hosa Cable Musicians Survival Kit. The word “musicians” could easily be substituted for “DJs” in the title as this is another item that should be in every DJs gear bag. A DJ won’t use these items every gig, but when the time comes to find a RCA to 1/4″, or most any other cable connecter, mic holder or straps, washers or screws, it’ll probablly be in here. $36.95.
4. Ultimate Support Pro Mic Stand. These are the ones used by touring professionals. If the DJ you are buying a gift for is using a beat up, rusted out, wobbly mic stand, here’s your DJ gift idea. A little bit on the spendy side, but pro all the way. $89.99.
3. Rock N Roller Multi Cart. Hauling equipment is not fun. This cart makes it a lot easier. I’ve had mine for over three years and it’s still going strong. I’ve pulled and pushed this thing, loaded with equipment, through snow, bumps, over curbs, up hills and other unpleasant situations. It still is going strong. Sometimes if I load it down too much it takes a little effort to steer it (I’m probablly overloading it). And the non-stick tape that they use on the loading service has long since ripped off. But, in the battle to haul equipment in and out of who knows where, this thing has been a lifesaver. I haven’t found anything better, yet, and I’m looking all the time. When this one breathes it’s last, I’ll get another one just like it. I love this thing. $129.99.
2. Amazon Gift Card. If it’s one thing a DJ always wants more of, it’s music.
1. Shure SM57 Microphone. The greatest microphone of all time, and still only 99 bucks. Used by more famous live DJs and professional musicians than any other. The official podium mic for the President of the U.S. for 30 years. Rugged. Dependable. Great sound. Like no other. You can’t go wrong giving this to any DJ, even if they already have one. A true no-brainer. I found a place that sells them for $99.99 with free shipping.
There you have it. The top ten. If you didn’t find the right gift from this list, be sure and check out the links on this website with many more DJ gift ideas. They are conveniently catagorized by price range.
